USA was formed initially in the year 1776 with Declaration of Independence by 13 American Colonies from the British Rule. One way that these States tried to show their independence was breaking away from the British English in its writing.
In 1778, Benjamin Franklin proposed new Alphabet for American English & then, an American Dictionary in the English language was however published by Noah Webster with only marginal changes with British English.Also, at later Stages, major changes were given effect in the public life with respect to LH Drive, Utilities, etc. in contrast to the British mode of life.Here are the two Extracts from- CHILDREN'S ILLUSTRATED ENCYCLOPEDIA of Dorling Kindersley produced below in this regard.

1- I was at the checkout of a K-Mart. The clerk rang up $46.64 charge. I gave her a fifty dollar bill. She gave me back $46.64. I gave the money back to her and told her that she had made a mistake in my favour. She became indignant and informed me she was educated and knew what she was doing, and returned the money again. I gave her the money back again ... same scenario!
I departed the store with the $46.64.
This happened in Austin at Mo Pac Boulevard and Palmer Lane.

2- I walked into a Starbucks with a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for a Grande Latte. I handed it to the girl and she looked over at a little chalkboard that said "buy one-get one free."
"They're already buy-one-get-one-free," she said, "so I guess they're both free." She handed me my free Lattes and I walked out the door.

3- One day I was walking down the beach with some friends when one of them shouted, "Look at that dead bird!"
Someone looked up at the sky and said, "Where?"

4- While looking at a house, my brother asked the real estate agent which direction was north because, he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning.
She asked, "Does the sun rise in the north?"
When my brother explained that the sun rises in the east, and has for some time, she shook her head and said, "Oh I don't keep up with that stuff."

5- I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call centre.
One day I got a call from an individual who asked what hours the call centre was open. I told him, "The number you dialled is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
He responded, "Is that Eastern or Pacific time?"
Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, "Uh, Pacific."

6- My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the trunk.

7- My friends and I were on a beer run and noticed that the cases were discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought 2 cases.
The cashier multiplied 2 times 10% and gave us a 20% discount.

8- I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area, so I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional and I was in good hands.
"Now," she asked me, has your plane arrived yet?"

9- While working at a pizza parlour ... I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6. He thought about it for some time before responding.
"Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat 6 pieces."

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The wise man, whom we have called "the Venerable Sage," came one day to the court of King Janaka, ruler of a portion of India. In those early days, people had no lanterns or artificial lights. They used to keep open fires nearby most of the time. The King had a desire to ask this sage some questions about the source of light, but it happened, on that day, that the Sage did not feel inclined to talk. Still, somehow, Janaka got his permission to begin a conversation.
"Revered Sir," the king asked, "What lights a man's way in this world? What is the real source of light?"
"Why, that is easy, O King," the Venerable Sage replied, "the sun lights a man, of course. For, with the sun alone as light, a person sits, goes out, does the day's work, and returns."
"True, Sir! But when the sun has set, what lights one's way in this world?"
"Why, then, O King, the moon is one's light. For, by moonlight, one can sit, or go out, do one's work, and return."
"That is true, O Sage," agreed Janaka. "But," he added, "when the moon also has set, what then?"
"Then fire is one's light, O King. For, by the light of fire, one sits, or goes out, does one's work, and returns."
Again Janaka agreed. "That is true, Sir, but when the sun and moon have set, and the fire has gone out, then what lights one's way in the world?"
"O King," answered the sage, "at that time, voice alone is one's light. By the sound of voices, one can sit, or go out, do one's work, and return. For, when it is so dark that one cannot even see one's hand in front, one can still hear sounds, and move toward them."
"That, too, is true, Sir. But when the sun and moon have set, and the fire has gone out, and all sound has stopped, what then lights one's way in the world?"
"Then the Self, alone, is one's light, Your Majesty. For then one must sit, or go out, do one's work, and return, all with the help of the Self alone."
Janaka happened to know quite a lot about the Self already, but he urged the Venerable Sage to explain more about it. He hoped he could add further to his own spiritual knowledge, so he continued to question the Venerable Sage.
"Which is the Self?" Janaka asked.
"The Self, Your Majesty, is the Knowing One, here among our various parts -- the Inner Light within the heart. It is He who sees this world of our waking state. It is He who sees the world of dream. And, in the dreamless sleep, when we think that we are not seeing, the Self is there, seeing
"There can never be an end to the seeing of the Seer. He is eternal. In deep sleep, you seem to know nothing, but in truth, the Self goes on knowing, for can there ever be an end to the knowing of the Knower? No. He exists forever.
"In the space within your heart lies this One Controller of All, the Master of All. It cannot be destroyed. It does not attach Itself to anything. It is not bound, does not suffer, is not injured. Good and evil do not affect It.
"When a person clearly sees this Self inside as God, the Lord of the past and the future, then he has nothing to fear. This is the undying, fearless Brahman. Fearless, indeed, is Brahman, and he who knows this becomes the fearless Brahman."

Today, 1st August, being the FRINDSHIP DAY, convenienly falls on First Sunday of August every year,

Getting up today early in the Morning, the First & Foremost thought caught my eyes is another one, also in the Album from- The Friends of Yahoo - Thatha Patti Group!
With such Thought-Provoking words in Mind for ever to follow in our life,let us get into The Museum of Science, Boston with our Kids to unravel the Myseteries invented or discovered by our Ancestors./ Scientists!Whatever we enjoy, The Marvels of Science & Technology, due credit goes to them only!LET US SALUTE THEM ALL!

Presently, we both are at Michigan enjoying the company of our Daughter's Family for the past two weeks, Last two Parts of Blog were infact made & issued from here only.
I could study the exposure of our Kids to the world of Wisdom at the close angles here right through our own Grand-daughters.Sky is the Limit for them!
I asked jokingly one Kid of 5 years old, on visit to her Home,
' Get ready to go with us to India where you can live with your Grand-parents'. She replied instantly,
'I like staying here better!'
When I started thinking her version deeper, I could study the depth of her Positive Mode of Mind-set!

Asia, especially India, gains a lot, because of variations in Time between us & the US.As rightly said, When US sleeps, India works with Her huge Manpower at its disposal in fulfilling the Projects Offshore obtained from US. It yields large Amount of Foreign Exchange thereby boosting our Economy.
Any one travelling to US shall be familiar with the Time adjustments supposed to be made in his watch enroute for which Air-crew will be helpful.Even after being aware of it, at times, it misfires involving us forgetfully in tense-moments.
A friend of mine,on his way to Michigan via Chicago on Domestic Travels, was in a fix, sometime back being unaware of this time-difference..He was seen off by his Son promptly early morning from Massachusetts, the local time of which matches perfectly with Michigan but not Chicago, enroute!.Its local time was one Hour behind the others.Air-tickets displayed only the Local time but total time of travel was shown correctly.
In my friend's case, the Sender & the Receiver, both educated him well about all aspects except time-gap forgetfully.
My friend enjoyed the Hospitality of Air-crew, relishing Snacks &Drinks served by them for Breakfast.. Audio in flight was active & conveyed some message from Cockpit in American English which my friend just assumed that it is going to land at Chicago in time.He then noticed his watch showing around 08.30AM.He verified his Ticket for Arrival showing as 07.40AM.Something started revolving in his Belly.Are we late?
Puzzled somewhat, he was looking for answer from the crew but again the Amercan Accent played its trick Crew replied that about 35 Minutes are there left to reach. Since the connecting Flight to Michigan was at 08.35AM as per Ticket, my friend aked the Crew whether his Michigan Flight can wait for this Flight in case of its late arrival.Crew replied something which my friend failed to follow.Stout & Bulky Crew stature discouraged my friend to repeat his query, instead, forced him to assume again that due to bad weather, it was late by 30 Minutes. Crew was right considering theOne hour Timegap. Wife of my friend also encourged him by showing outside the window that the weather was too cloudy to land in time.Flight landed little late & my friend with his wife started rushing towards the Specific Gate from where Michigan flight was due taking off.He hurried looking for his flight timings in TV Screen, in case of late shedule, only to find later that it showed only the Timings of Arrival Flights.Then, they were rushing along the corridor of Arrival Gates only to find that Gates of Departure Flights just started then. Since their Departure Gate was at the end, it took some time more to reach where there was nobody & the Gate was found closed.They just assumed that their Flight had already left in time since their watch showed 09.08.They were looking for alternatives including their Checked-in Luggages.Then, they accidentally saw a digital clock near the Gate showing it was 08.08AM when their own watch was at 9.08..On query,a Passenger just arrived there, clarified the Mystery of One Hour Time adjustment. My friend therefore had enough time to board hi flight with 25 Minutes more left.Then it was Happy ending all the way & both relatives at either end cut a sorry figure., there was a great relief for all!

THE UNITED STATES consists of 50 States, divided into 7 Zones- New England, Mid-Atlantic, Mid-West, South, South-West, Mountain & Pacific.
Massachusetts, also known as- The Bay State is one of the Six States under New England with Boston as its Capital.Its State Beverage- Cranberry Juice.
European explorers, The British, came first to this State in the year 1062 when Algonquin Tribes were already living there. Having gone round & round the at home looking for Amenities after strolling for a walk nearby at Arlington,it is time now for us to travel out towards Ashland, 15 Miles away by Car to seek the Blessings of The Goddess SriLakshmi, the Temple of whom is situated at New England Zone, combination of Massachusetts, New Hamshire, Rhode Islands (smallest state in USA), Maine ,Connecticut & Vermont (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_England).Photography inside the temple is prohibited like India. The inaugural function of this New England Hindu Temple, Inc. was conducted with Mahalakshmi Pooja and Diwali celebrations on October 28, 1978 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Melrose, Massachusetts. Exuberance and excitement filled the hearts and minds of everyone in the large congregation as they witnessed and experienced an authentic pooja service to Sri Lakshmi and it filled their spiritual need. This was easily seen as pledges and donations started coming in even before securing the non-profit status. Non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service was secured on November 28, 1978 for tax-deductible contributions. The place of congregation was soon changed to Needham Village Club which was more centrally located.
In the summer of 1981, about twelve acres of land in the town of Ashland, Massachusetts were acquired for constructing the temple. services of Sri Ganapathy Sthapathy from the Institute of Architecture and Sculpture in Tamil Nadu were sought to design the temple according to the Agama Sastras. He visited in November 1982 and provided detailed plans for the temple. In early 1983, M/S MacNevin and Kerivan Engineering, Inc. of Wellesley was engaged to prepare the engineering design and drawings which were submitted to the Town of Ashland for approval. The land was cleared in the fall of 1983 and in the following spring the excavation work was carried out by Guigli & Sons. The contract for the foundation and structural work for the building was awarded to Kaikunte Engineering Corporation in Sharon in the summer of 1984. The ground breaking ceremony was observed on June 19, 1984 with a grand celebration of Ganesh Pooja.
In the fall of 1984 the temple applied to Thirumaial-Thirupathi Devasthanam in India for a loan to help hasten the construction of the temple. The application was duly approved and the first installment of Rs. 5 Lakhs was received in July 1985. The loan has now been repaid. When the initial contract with Kalkunte Engineering Corporation for the foundation and infra structure was completed, the first Ganapathy Homam in the temple was performed in September 1985. The contract to complete the building with all the utilities needed for occupancy was awarded to Parekh Construction Co. in Woburn, Massachusetts. The first floor had the mahdmandapam (60'x5O') with an Alankaramandapam for Lord Nataraja and His consort Sivakami.
A paved driveway to the temple from Waverly Street with parking spaces for 100 cars was also provided. The receipt of the occupancy permit for the temple in September 1986 was an important milestone on the road to the completion of the mammoth project. This was celebrated with a grand opening Ceremony on September 6, 1986. Sri Janakiram Sastrigal of Rajarajeswari Peetam in Stroudsburg, PA graciously performed the inaugural pooja along with local part-time Tamil priests.
The temple has remained open during the week-ends ever since with all the major Hindu feswals being celebrated in a traditional manner. Cultural activities such as classical music and dance concerts, Thyagaraja Aradhana, Dikshitar Day, Surdas & Meera Bhajans and discourses have further transformed the temple into the focal point of the Hindu community.
Extending from the mahamandapam by another thirty feet, sanctums for the principal deities Ganesh, mahalakshmi and Venkateswara were constructed beginning in September 1987 with the contract assigned to Parekh Construction Co. As the time approached for Hindu architectural ornamentation of the sanctums with vimana gopuram (sikhara), the service of Sri Muthiah Sthapathy of Tamil Nadu was contracted in 1988. In the same year, Sri Shadrinarayana Bhattar was appointed as the first full-time priest of the Srilakshmi temple to provide regular services within the temple as well as services such as weddings, Grahapravesams, Namakaranam etc. as required by the Hindu community at their residences. When he returned to India, Sri Krishna Bhattar was appointed to fill in the vacancy.
The spring of 1989 saw the arrival of ten artisans (silpis) from India skilled in the architectural work of the temple. With their arrival, the exquisite magnificence of the sancta with their vimana gopurams began to take shape. Their patient and devoted work under adverse weather conditions has brought us to the celebration of Rajagopuram Kumbhabhishekam. Plans for the Kumbhabhishekam were initiated in the fall of 1989. Sri Sampathkumar Bhattacharlar of Bangalore and Sri Sambamoorthy Sivachariar of Madras were chosen as chief priests to perform the Kumbhabhishekam with a host of other priests assisting them in this consecration ceremony.
The granite idols of Ganesh with Mooshikam and Balipeetam, Mahalakshmi, Venkateswara, Garuda and Dwarapalakas along with the bronze Utsavamurthis of Ganesh, Mahalakshmi, Venkateswara, Sridevi, Bhudevi and Sivakami were designed by Sri Ganapathy Sthapathy of the Institute of Architecture and Sculpture, Tamil Nadu and fabricated by the artisans at the institute. The bronze Utsavamurthis of Nataraja, Subrahmanya, Valli and Devasena were designed by Sri Muthiah Sthapathy. The ornamental designs of the sanctum and the vimana gopuram were skillfully executed according to the Hindu Agama-sastras by the Indian artisans. Coordination of the shipping of the idols from India was carried out through the considerable help rendered by Sri Meenakshisundaram and Sri Ramanujam of Madras. Sri N V Raghavan, also of Madras, has attended to the procurement of multifarious items required for the Kumbhabhishekam.
These are only a few of the many who have helped the temple in immeasurable ways to reach the present status of success in this ever growing project. Undoubtedly, the names of many people have not been mentioned due to lack of space. What was envisioned as a concept in 1978 took twelve years to blossom. Measured steps were taken all the way mostly due to the newness of the project. Through the grace and guidance of Goddess Srilakshmi, an important phase of the temple construction has been completed. Sri Lakshmi Temple now joins the ranks of other Hindu temples built in different cities across the country. In some sense, building the temple has been the easy and fun part.
It will be left to the future generations to foster the growth of the Srilakshmi temple and other temples.

GOD'S Rosebud-

A new minister was walking with an older,
more seasoned minister in the garden one day.
Feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do,
he was asking the older preacher for some advice.
The older preacher walked up to a rosebush
and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him
to open it without tearing off any petals.
The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher
and was trying to figure out what a rosebud
could possibly have to do with his wanting to know
the will of God for his life and ministry.
But because of his great respect for the older preacher,
he proceeded to try to unfold the rose,
while keeping every petal intact.
It wasn't long before he realized
how impossible this was to do.
Noticing the younger preacher's inability
to unfold the rosebud without tearing it,
the older preacher began to recite
the following poem...
"It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine."
"The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so easily,
But in my hands they die."
"If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?"
"So I'll trust in God for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to God for guidance
In each step of the way."
"The path that lies before me,
Only my Lord knows.
I'll trust God to unfold the moments,

The inaugural function of this New England Hindu Temple, Inc. was conducted with Mahalakshmi Pooja and Diwali celebrations on October 28, 1978 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Melrose, Massachusetts. Exuberance and excitement filled the hearts and minds of everyone in the large congregation as they witnessed and experienced an authentic pooja service to Sri Lakshmi and it filled their spiritual need. This was easily seen as pledges and donations started coming in even before securing the non-profit status. Non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service was secured on November 28, 1978 for tax-deductible contributions. The place of congregation was soon changed to Needham Village Club which was more centrally located.
In the summer of 1981, about twelve acres of land in the town of Ashland, Massachusetts were acquired for constructing the temple. services of Sri Ganapathy Sthapathy from the Institute of Architecture and Sculpture in Tamil Nadu were sought to design the temple according to the Agama Sastras. He visited in November 1982 and provided detailed plans for the temple. In early 1983, M/S MacNevin and Kerivan Engineering, Inc. of Wellesley was engaged to prepare the engineering design and drawings which were submitted to the Town of Ashland for approval. The land was cleared in the fall of 1983 and in the following spring the excavation work was carried out by Guigli & Sons. The contract for the foundation and structural work for the building was awarded to Kaikunte Engineering Corporation in Sharon in the summer of 1984. The ground breaking ceremony was observed on June 19, 1984 with a grand celebration of Ganesh Pooja.
In the fall of 1984 the temple applied to Thirumaial-Thirupathi Devasthanam in India for a loan to help hasten the construction of the temple. The application was duly approved and the first installment of Rs. 5 Lakhs was received in July 1985. The loan has now been repaid. When the initial contract with Kalkunte Engineering Corporation for the foundation and infra structure was completed, the first Ganapathy Homam in the temple was performed in September 1985. The contract to complete the building with all the utilities needed for occupancy was awarded to Parekh Construction Co. in Woburn, Massachusetts. The first floor had the mahdmandapam (60'x5O') with an Alankaramandapam for Lord Nataraja and His consort Sivakami.
A paved driveway to the temple from Waverly Street with parking spaces for 100 cars was also provided. The receipt of the occupancy permit for the temple in September 1986 was an important milestone on the road to the completion of the mammoth project. This was celebrated with a grand opening Ceremony on September 6, 1986. Sri Janakiram Sastrigal of Rajarajeswari Peetam in Stroudsburg, PA graciously performed the inaugural pooja along with local part-time Tamil priests.
The temple has remained open during the week-ends ever since with all the major Hindu feswals being celebrated in a traditional manner. Cultural activities such as classical music and dance concerts, Thyagaraja Aradhana, Dikshitar Day, Surdas & Meera Bhajans and discourses have further transformed the temple into the focal point of the Hindu community.
Extending from the mahamandapam by another thirty feet, sanctums for the principal deities Ganesh, mahalakshmi and Venkateswara were constructed beginning in September 1987 with the contract assigned to Parekh Construction Co. As the time approached for Hindu architectural ornamentation of the sanctums with vimana gopuram (sikhara), the service of Sri Muthiah Sthapathy of Tamil Nadu was contracted in 1988. Exclusive Heater room at each floor which has access only thro' Laundry room- Paid-service, provides 1)Heater circuits to the Apts for Hot Air during Winter- below Zero
2) Heater circuits for water, instant hot & cold variable thro' knob, round the clock for Kitchen & Baths.

A store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City , where a
woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the
entrance is a description of how the store operates. You may visit
the store ONLY ONCE!
There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the
shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch . . .. you
may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go
up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building !!
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband
On the first floor the sign on the door reads: Floor 1 - These men
have jobs.
The second floor sign reads: Floor 2 - These men have jobs
and love kids.
The third floor sign reads: Floor 3 - These men have jobs,
love kids, and are extremely good looking. "Wow," she thinks,
but feels compelled to keep going.
She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads: Floor 4 - These men
have jobs, love kids, are drop- dead good looking and
help with the housework "Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly
stand it!"
Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads: Floor 5 - These
men have jobs, love kids, are drop- dead gorgeous,
help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the
sign reads:
Floor 6 - You are visitor 4,363,012 to this floor. There are no men
on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are
impossible to please! Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
Watch your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!
It therefore proves that sky is the limit for women for choosing their life-partners, which is the fact now.

A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband.
Suddenly, her husband burst into the kitchen.
