Nickname- The Constituition..It was the First to adopt Written Costituition based on the will of the people, hence the name!In the 1600s, The British Govt. tried to control The Colonies by seizing their Constituition. The Then Connecticut leaders refused to give theirs up & hid it in a huge Oak tree.This Majestic tree- Charter Oak, stood for a long time as Love of Freedom but fell down during great storm in 1856!Today, a Memorial marks the Place where the tree stood & The Charter is housed in frame from its own tree!
